The Florida Suncoast area is blessed with top surgeons, oncologists, hospitals, vendors and support organizations. Sadly, many of our cancer fighters and caregivers are not aware of these resources. To meet that challenge, the Cancer Resource Network was formalized in 2015. Our mission is to help individuals find local services that will help them along their cancer journey. We also want to educate the community to be fully aware of all the resources available to anyone dealing with cancer.
Our website will link you directly to our members’ individual websites. Our members include hospitals, treatment centers, cancer boutiques, research facilities as well as organizations offering emotional and financial support and more. We hold public events several times a year where both the community and our members can learn about what the presenting members offer.
Although the current organization is fairly young, our members have collaborated informally in many ways over the years. One way is the annual celebration of National Cancer Survivor Day on the first Sunday in June. National Cancer Survivors Day® is a time-honored Celebration of Life that gives everyone who is living with a history of cancer an opportunity to connect with other cancer survivors, celebrate milestones, and to recognize those who have supported them along the way. It is also a day to draw attention to the ongoing challenges of cancer survivorship. Representatives of our member organizations have come together to organize an afternoon of music, fun and food (free to guests) since 1998.
