About the Cancer Resource Network
Our Mission
To share community resources to help individuals find services that will aid them in their personal cancer journey.
Our Vision
An involved community fully aware of all resources available to persons dealing with cancer.
Our Story
The Florida Suncoast area is blessed with top surgeons, oncologists, hospitals, vendors and support organizations. Sadly, many of our cancer fighters and caregivers are not aware of these resources. Lori Kayser and Angela Long created Cancer Resource Network in 2013 to meet this challenge. Lizzie Hautamaki, Kay Hall and Tony McEachern were founding committee members and helped launch this important network. Cancer Resource Network became a 501(c)(3) in 2018.
Our mission is to help individuals find local services that will help them along their cancer journey. We also want to educate the community to be fully aware of all the resources available to anyone dealing with cancer.
Our website will link you directly to our members’ individual websites. We have 45 members including hospitals, treatment centers, cancer boutiques, research facilities as well as organizations offering emotional and financial support and more. We hold public events several times a year where both the community and our members can learn about what the presenting members offer.
Although the current organization is fairly young, our members have collaborated informally in many ways over the years. One way is the annual celebration of National Cancer Survivor Day on the first Sunday in June. Representatives of our member organizations have come together to organize an afternoon of music, fun and food (free to guests) since 1998
